Position Summary

• Anesthesia Assistant are responsible for the provision of respiratory care as established by the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario (CRTO) and the standards of the hospital.
• Participates in the care of the stable surgical patient during general, regional or local anesthesia under the clinical direction of the Chief of Anesthesia.
• In addition to providing technical support for the anesthesiologist for complex anesthesia equipment, they administer anesthetic gases and medications, perform conscious sedation, and are responsible for insertion and monitoring of intravenous and arterial lines.
