Responsibilities

• Represent Children and Family Services in court applications, trials, and appeals in Child Youth & Family Enhancement Act (CYFEA) matters at all court levels.
• Provide legal advice on the application and interpretation of the CYFEA and Canada’s act regarding First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Children, Youth & Families, and the Directors’ obligations under those acts.
• Represent the Director of Maintenance Enforcement and the Director under Part5 of the Income and Employment Supports Act in child-support matters at all court levels.
• Independently prepare and provide legal opinions and advice, both verbal and written, for direct clients and Ministries on confidential matters.
• Draft accurate, clear, concise, and practical legal opinions.
