What’s the job?
Chef is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the kitchen in a remote camp setting. This includes ordering food ingredients, planning menus, assisting with preparation, serving, and controlling cooked and uncooked food, training staff, and ensuring adherence to Dexterra Food Safety protocol.
Responsibilities also include supervising kitchen staff productivity and compliance with Dexterra policies, leading training and mentoring of employees, ensuring foods are prepared using FoodSafe and HACCP methods per Horizon North safety guidelines, managing labour and chemical resources efficiently, serving clients and staff in a personable manner, applying knowledge of dietary restrictions and allergies, and conducting bi‑weekly inventory.
