Dairy Technician (Herdsperson) (Vermilion)

Key Responsibilities

• Ensuring that the cows are milked out properly and thoroughly.
• Operate basic farm equipment and tools as required.
• Follow safety protocols and farm procedures.
• Work both independently and as part of a team to complete assigned tasks.
• Availability to work shifts, including weekends and statutory holidays.
• Carry out daily operations including milking, breeding, calving, calf care, and assisting/directing students as scheduled by the Dairy Unit Supervisor.
• Operate and maintain milking equipment, ensuring proper startup, sanitation, and complete milking of cows.
• Tag, process, and provide care for calves; administer treatments or medications as required.
• Maintain accurate animal records including breeding dates, pregnancy results, vaccinations, heat detection, and calving information.
