Infusion Nurse - Research

Position Summary

Department / Research Program: Women’s Health Research Unit. Under the supervision of Dr. Lucy Gilbert, the infusion nurse is responsible for administering and adjusting treatments and medications to research cancer patients while ensuring the successful conduct of clinical research studies of the Women’s Health Research Unit.

General Duties

• Acts as a resource person to assist in the care of the research patient requiring complex care


• Administers chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments to oncology research patients


• Infuses blood products when necessary


• Evaluates the health status of oncology research patients


• Determines if a research patient can continue their treatments


• Works closely with the interdisciplinary team to ensure proper care and oversight to the research patient and their families in clinical research trials
