In collaboration with RyQ Ingeniería, the Consorcio RyQ-COWI NA is responsible for the design review, inspection, and supervision of the construction of a suspension bridge across the Chacao channel in Chile on behalf of the Client, the Ministry of Public Works. When completed, the bridge will form an important link in the Chilean transportation infrastructure, connecting the mainland with the Chiloé Island, some 1, km south of Santiago. Replacing today’s car ferries with a dual carriageway fixed crossing, the bridge will enhance future development in the sparsely populated southern regions of Chile.
