Work with YWCA Peterborough Haliburton as a Shelter Counsellor. Provide vital crisis intervention and safety planning for women escaping violence in rural communities.
This on-call role requires compassion and expertise in crisis support. You will work to co-create safety plans, advocate for women's rights, and support their emotional healing. Build on your experience in mental health, addiction services, and trauma-informed practices to foster safe and healing environments for clients.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver 24/7 crisis counselling services to women
• Co-create safety plans with clients post-crisis
• Advocate for women's health and well-being needs
• Facilitate understanding of rights and community resources
• Conduct lethality assessments to identify risk levels
Requirements:
• Relevant education and minimum 2 years of experience
• Knowledge of anti-oppressive practices and cultural competency
